Male Involvement Makes A Difference

A study by the National Center for Education Statistics, reported in Work & Family Newsbrief that when fathers participate in 3 or more school events, thier kids enjoy school more and have a lower dropout and expulsion rate.

Researchers found that dad's involvement in school, whether it's attending a conference or chaperoning a field trip, has a positive influence on their child's performance, even if they don't live with their child.

SUM Child Development, Inc. has received a National Father's Initiative Grant. A variety of Dad's Days are being held throughout the three counties. The vents are being held on Saturdays and or evenings to ensure working dads can attend.

Dads participate in a variety of activities with thier children and are provided with information/training on the subject of "How Children Learn through Play". A strong emphasis on the importance of literacy is also part of the day's activities.

We haven't forgotten about mothers...the days are featured as a Dad's Day and Mom's day alone without preschoolers!! Every mom received a gift bag just for her!

The pictures attest to the joy of the children having their daddy's at school!!!
