SUMCD staff attend Pre-K Governors Institute
From July 9 - 14, nine Early Care and Education Professionals from SUM Child
Development attended Pennsylvania's first Governors Insitute exclusively for
Pre-Kindergarten which was held on the campus of Keystone College. They had
the opportunity to listen to nationally known experts in the early childhood
field and other leaders from around the state of Pennsylvania. This intense
week of professional development was centered around in depth study of
Pennsylvania's Pre-Kindergarten Early Learning Standards. Focus areas
included early literacy, math, and science. Participants engaged in daily
discussion and reflection sessions to plan how they would implement the
theory and research based standards into their classroom practice in a
deeper and more intentional way. Pictured are Vickie Disanto, Elgarda
Mitchell, Anne Berrier, Nichole Yost, Carla Bless, Lara Platt, Carol
