Parents Encouraging & Enhancing Kids

Purpose

The early years are important learning years. Some children need special help, and the sooner this help begins, the greater the chances for normal growth and development.

Eligibility For PEEK

Children from birth to age three who are Union or Snyder county residents and have special needs, disabilities, or are at risk of development delays are enrolled by the local Mental Health and Mental Retardation Agency or Children Identified through the Children and Youth Agencies who are abused, neglected or at risk. There is no charge for the program and no income guidelines.

PEEK Services

PEEK's services are directed at the parents and address the needs of both the child and the family. An Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) is designed based on professional evaluation information and parent input. Home teaching visits are made by a home visitor, usually weekly. Parents are involved in thier child's learning experiences, and are expected to carry out planned activities during the week. Physical therapy, speech therapy, and other special services are provided as needed. Parents also learn about parenting skills, nutrition, and child development, and receive assistance with social service needs.

Program Areas of PEEK

the services addressing child development include the following areas: self-help skills, small and large muscle development, language, basic learning skills, and emotional development.
